I am obsessed with this song today: P!nk – Just Give Me a Reason mostly because it really, really makes me think of Season 8 Winchesters. Wish I had SPN fangirls on my flist :(

So... Guess who had two thumbs and two lines on the stick?

In that light, we bought a 2011 Vw Routan minivan since we needed a new vehicle for me to drive to New Mexico. We did that tonight. Found one in TARDIS blue, but it was sold. Across the way was a black one with a few more miles on it but it was much more macked out than the blue one... Including the sun roof I wanted so desperately (but was unwilling to look for, since it's so trivial. Fell in love with the sun roof back in June when I rented the Impala) and power folding seats in the third row... And dvd player, remote, wireless headphones, power everything! And the payment isn't even miserably high. *whew* considering I'll be out of work for a bit next year :)

Oh the fangirlish delight of discovering that one of my dear favorite friends who dates back to 3rd grade, connected now via FB, is a slashy fangirl! Love it!

Also, this amuses me.

I've wondered about this for a long time, but it has recently become an issue again so it is fresh in my mind.

How do you get all those mushy wet tea leaves out of a teapot?!? I find it to be such a PITA that I'd rather risk crushing the poor wee leaves. I only put the tea directly in the pot, btw, when I'm brewing full leaf tea. Otherwise, it goes in a paper filter bag.

Just wondering. I did some research and found out about using 2 pots to brew the tea and got more insight into the age old question of milk or tea in the cup first, but there wasn't a word said about any tips or tricks with loose tea in a pot.

I found this on Pinterest, but as a wanna be, or some time beta, I would like to share this information with other writers (you might even know who you are) so that you will come a bit closer to understanding why I adore the semicolon.

Lovely weekend with the fam.

clicky for blah blah  )
Saw Tin Tin yesterday and understand where Indiana Jones came from. Came home and watched Doctor Who and it made me cryyyyyyyyyy. I love that the Doctor finally seems to be healing and has had a bit of a break from the whomping. *pets him*
Wrote a bit of anonymous smut for a friend and posted it, proving to myself that I really can throw together some words without relentless editing and beta work! Maybe I'll jump in over @ the_applecart some time soon. Silly weekly prompts make weeks go by too fast. Course, I guess if I were inspired by a theme or a prompt there, I could just write it.... duh!

Anyway I have too much to fill my leisure time and nowhere near enough time to enjoy it all! Obsessed with the Sims, new 3d telly in my house...Pilots! And also the loom I gave my son at his request. It may give me a stroke learning to use it! It frightens me so!

Hope everyone is warm and safe and feeling loved.

The new movie is delightful. That is all.

Happy Birthday to my birthday twin, [livejournal.com profile] jaded_jamie!! We is OLLLLDDDD!! But we are not alone!! (And don't forget Christina Applegate, she's old today too!)

Thank you for all your wisdom and humor and brilliance and your devotion to all the things on the Telly. An excellent role model you are ;)

Please to insert smilies and happy dancing gifs here :)

**Big Hugs**
**passes big tissues**

Now I'll crawl into bed after working last night, only to wake up for College Football and then go gorge myself on fondue...and sob uncontrollably.

So I have a WEEK left to be thirtysomething. A week left of less than 40.

See what fangirling can do?? All hail the power of fandom.

Happy Friday, y'all!!

So, forget Roller Derby. Too much friggin' trouble. Really, I am too busy for 3 practices a week plus fundraising and committee work...bleah. That sounds like ZERO fun. Ick.

cut for rambliness )

Also, I found these. They will keep my Official and not Handmade Doctor Who Magnets company. Please note that Starbuck & Apollo appear to be one unit. Quite Right, too. (to mix my fangirling)

Just got home from seeing Wicked with my mom. It was her birthday present from which I profited greatly. WOW! I'm so glad I didn't know a thing about the story. I felt a tear pop out of my eye onto my cheek at the end! And the crowd was So enthusiastic, and rightly so! It was so nice to feel like swooning while surrounded by people who were also swooning.

Plus, sitting next to me were two men who were too muscly and tidy to be straight, but whose biceps were....inspiring. They didn't captivate me long, just in passing. Wicked is *that* good ;-)

It occurred to me on the way home, though, that Wicked is fanfiction. And the musical is like "Fanfiction: the Musical" if you kwim. The story is backstory and missing scenes...just like the best fanfic!

I had to force myself not to get shippy and recast the the play with my OTPs...

Cut for TL/DR )

Whoa...

So, I have done lost my mind.

No, I've gone and done one of those things that we're supposed to do because they scare us?

I've enlisted with the local Roller Derby Team. It was placed in my path at precisely the right moment.

Now, this decision was undertaken without ever having watched a bout, or met a Roller Girl or even having sat through "Whip It" all the way.

I just love to skate, and I relish the opportunity and even encouragement to skate more aggressively. I've often wanted a do-over on the chance to play a team sport. I don't do anything else besides fandom (and working and family-ing). I'm terrified of these bawdy broads. I'm frankly intimidated by the role I'll have to play in say, fundraising, awareness raising, organization building (since it's a fledgling grass-roots sort of thing). I halfway hope I can just contribute more money in order to get out of bake sales and car washes. I hate that crap for my kids, I hate it more for me! I'll just keep telling myself I don't have to be the *best* team member, just *a* team member and show up for that which interests me, etc.

Until this weekend I knew almost nothing about Roller Derby. But I'm learning. I need pads. A helmet. I need to get over how absolutely goofy I'm gonna feel skating in all that. There's a League! There are playoffs and finals and all that sort of stuff. Happening this weekend, too. There's even a News Network. Now I'm gonna hafta fangirl the derby in order to study up!

The Marietta Derby Darlins do not have their own practice space yet so they meet at a local rink to build endurance and spread the word. Now I get to start doing squats and sit ups to strengthen my core and get bolder, braver...ask questions, make conversation. Y'all have NO IDEA how much this scares me. But the opportunity to have a cool alter-ego and badass hobby?!! Priceless. This was made for women like me. Plus it makes me not want to cry and gnash my teeth at the prospect of turning 40 in two months. That's a plus. A big plus. Cuz originally I was gonna fight the middle aged blues by having a baby by 40, but that train passed me by. So I'll turn to my other love: adrenaline!

Finally, I must say that I finished the season tonight. My older son watched this season and is catching up on previous seasons online. He took the final episodes a little more seriously than I did. But...

cut for spoilage )

All in all, I'll watch again, but not with the rapture I watched once upon a time. As a matter of fact, I can't really believe I *ever* felt that way.

In fact, the werewolves on TB really made me wish that the rumored Anita Blake TV show would come to be. These sketchy weres really made me appreciate the detials that LKH put into the Werewolf politics, all the pack structure with all the different critters. All that mythology and hierarchy. That would make some good telly at least until the loony sexathons started. It would be cancelled by then anyway! Just gimme a few seasons, at least til the Triumverate is formed and a little beyond? Move up the sexing a little in the timeline to make good TV? I'll start wishing harder. Oh, nevermind, it isn't happening and hasn't been for a long time...

I found me some DirtyBadWrong!!

Yipee!! Just two tiny stories, but they scratch my sekrit itch. And I shall share, because I'm that kind of gal.

Cut for Shame, but click if you have Daddy Issues )

Now, I know aside from my new friends, *waves* everyone else on my flist doesn't really care or stopped caring about BSG long ago. But it's ALL SO NEW to me and I am so delighted to find an active, established fandom that is so rife with good fic! So all my DW friends, I apologize profusely, but I've been so very nearly monogamous for so long now!
requialexa: (Default)
Please pray for my mom's dog to die soon. He's like 20 and can't remember he's supposed to poop outside and the pair of them live in the house I am responsible for and I don't feel comfy throwing either of them out. I HATE THAT DOG WITH MY WHOLE SOUL. He was fine til he got old. No...wait. He used to jump the fence and run around the neighborhood. I don't know how we didn't get sued. He's not mean at all, just really stupid and soft. I hate him anyway.

Cut for more than you wanted to read )

So aside from that, I have a young friend (well, my son's friend?) on FB who is trying to raise money for concert tix by doing commissions of chibis. So I has one, well, two.

I shall cuddle them close and try to get calm and carry on. Glad I didn't break my toe kicking that planter. That would have been humiliating.

Early this morn I finished season 4 and therefore, the series. I should've known better than to watch Daybreak: pt 1 at midnight!

Cut for fangirlish rambling... )

I am just so happy that I didn't discover fandom until after I graduated from college. Because otherwise, I never would have.

This is what's wrong with me:

I spontaneously dreamed up an insane crossover between BSG and True Blood. I enjoyed it enough to mention it OUT LOUD to my family. *headdesk*

So BSG folk find Earth, the Earth that includes Vampires. The Colonial refugees somehow manage to assimilate into the USA and slowly realize that this Earth is a bunch of years ahead in their Evolutionary timeline and that the vampires are not really vampires, or not only vampires, they're cylon-based organisms! So that made me smile. Cylons=Vampires. Heheh. Imagine the pairings. OH gosh. There is something seriously wrong with me. It's like when I spent a while writing head!fic about Vampirates. I am a sad sick puppy.

I bet I'm not alone.
